After the 7 digit update, I decided to work on my firepower playfield. I found a very good used playfield as a part of a "I will repair your bally pcbs deal...".
Almost all parts are removed from the upper side. The lamp wiring and the lamp sockets are still in place.
The playfield needs only minor touchups (green circles).
Next, I will clean the playfield and remove the mylar around the bumpers.
First I had tried the freeze spray method, but I hadn't have success. At last, I removed the mylar with a haird dryer.
After the first cleaning.
Scott Charles send me some of these little helpers...I must say, they are great...(And the best thing there are "made in germany", but I didn't found them here in europe..."
Here you see a part of the playfield after the first cleaning with alcohol.
Here you see the same part after "Magic Eraser". I used them with alcohol not with water.
Here some other great results...
Now the playfield looks realy nice...(this picture may take a little longer for loading)
Then I sand the entire playfield light with 600 sand paper.
The I used silicone remover (this is quite important otherwise the lacquer will not hold). Then I use a dust remover cloth.
I found a local colour store which filled 2 k laquer in a spray can. Here you see the (I think amazing) results...
The black color is from Duplicolor (paint stick for cars, color number 8-040). I didn't use a sharpie ink pen !.
Now I will start with the touchups. Here are some pictures:
Now, I will take the playfield to my garage for the final clearcout.
They clearcoated it with the following product:
PPG (Deltron) D800 clearcoat.
Let us start...
First I want to mount the mylar rings around the bumpers.
Unfortunately the 30'000 insert falled out ! I didn't realise this before the final clearcoat..
I clean the insert and the hole with sandpaper.
I glued the insert and repaint the insert boarder.
I will mount a larger piece of mylar over the bumper and insert.
Upper side almost finished...
Someone "installed" bally flipperfingers with a large gripper I think...
No way to remove the flipper fingers without any damage...
Ready to move...
All parts on my good old cardboard...
Now we have to screw a lot...
Half of the job is done...
This time I cleaned every insert and every bulb...
